Rick McFarland is a Memphis native and longtime musician. He began studying music as a student at Overton High School, a local performing arts school. His professional music career took off in his teenage years when he began playing professionally at Liberty Land and Mud Island. From 1980-83, Rick was a member of the USO and toured through Europe and the Mediterranean providing entertainment to American soldiers overseas. After coming home to Memphis in 1983, Rick toured and played with numerous rock and R&B musical groups until 2003. During his this time he played and shared the stage with renowned artists like Carla Thomas and R.E.M. Rick served as Contemporary Service and Outreach Coordinator at Lord of Life Lutheran Church between 2008-2013. During this time he wrote and played original contemporary Christian music, uniting and growing the church's congregation through worship. Rick began his position as Worship Leader at Mind of Christ Christian Center by a miracle of God. On July 4th of 2020, Rick was involved in a nearly-fatal car accident in which he sustained severe injuries, including a life-altering back and brain injury. During this dark and difficult time, Rick befriended Pastor Darrel Davis and Pastor Wendy Lucious Davis. Mind of Christ Christian Center welcomed Rick with open arms, guiding him and his musical talents into the worship of God. He now serves as the Minister of Music, leading and guiding God’s people into worship. Rick has since then been inspired to show others to worship by teaching them how to play different instruments and read music at the Revival Music Academy (see below).
